I think, deep down, I always knew I would become a wedding photographer in Christchurch. Not because I had a clear plan. Not because I followed a traditional path. But because of who I am.
I’ve always been a sensitive person. The kind of person who feels everything deeply. The kind of person who notices the small moments, the quiet emotions, the unspoken connections between people. Being surrounded by love, joy, and emotions completely nourishes my soul, and it seemed obvious to me to dive into this aspect of photography.
A Natural Calling
When I first picked up a camera, I was naturally drawn to photographing families, couples, and maternity sessions.
Love, in all its forms.
These moments moved me. They still do!
But even then, something inside me was quietly pulling me toward weddings. Because weddings are not just about love. They are about intensity. They are about being surrounded by joy, connection, and emotion, all at once.
And for someone like me, that’s everything.

Why Weddings Feel Like Home
Being a wedding photographer in Christchurch means stepping into a space where emotions are not hidden, they are celebrated.
Tears are welcome. Laughter is loud. Hugs are long.
It’s a day where people allow themselves to feel fully.
And that’s exactly what nourishes my soul. I always knew I needed that. I needed to be surrounded by real emotions. By human connection. By moments that are honest and unfiltered. Weddings give me that in the most beautiful way.
And of course, it’s difficult for me not to shed a tear (or more) during the speeches…

The Moment It Became Real
Even though I felt this calling early on, I officially started wedding photography two years after beginning my journey. And the moment I did, everything made sense. I remember standing there, camera in hand, watching a couple exchange vows. Feeling the emotion in the air. Seeing the way their loved ones looked at them. And thinking: wow, this is where I’m meant to be.
There was no doubt. No hesitation. No regrets.
I remember coming home from my first wedding with a huge smile the whole way.
More Than Just a Wedding Day
What I love most about being a wedding photographer in Christchurch is that a wedding is never just a wedding. It’s a story. It’s the beginning of a new chapter, but also a reflection of everything that came before.
It’s families coming together. It’s friendships being celebrated. It’s years of love, memories, and experiences all leading to this one day.
And then there are the speeches. The stories. The laughter. The tears.
Everyone you love, in one place, speaking about you, celebrating you, reminding you of who you are and what you’ve built together.
It’s overwhelming in the most beautiful way! And being able to capture that? It’s an honour I don’t take lightly.

From Intimate Moments to Big Emotions
My background in family and couple photography shaped the way I approach weddings.
Because even on a big day, I’m always looking for the small moments. The glance. The touch. The deep breath before walking down the aisle.
I love those in-between moments that often go unnoticed, but mean everything later.
Because the best photos are not just seen. They are felt.

I’ll guide you when needed, and step back when it matters most.
Because I want your photos to feel honest. To feel alive. To feel like you.
Things I’ve Learned (And My Best Tips for You)
Over time, I’ve realised that it’s often the simplest things that make the biggest difference.
1. Don’t Skip Sunset Portraits
If I can give you one piece of advice, it’s this: Make time for sunset portraits. You don’t need long – just 15 to 20 minutes. But that moment is magic. The light softens. The energy shifts. Everything feels calmer. It’s often the only time you get to step away, just the two of you. And those photos become some of the most meaningful of the entire day.
2. Let Your Day Breathe
Try not to over-schedule everything. Leave space for moments to happen naturally. Because the unexpected moments are often the ones you’ll treasure the most.
3. Focus on What Matters
At the end of the day, your wedding is about your connection. Not perfection. Not pressure. Just love.
4. Trust the Process
When you trust your photographer, you allow yourself to relax and be fully present. And that’s when the magic happens.
5. Be Present
It goes by so fast. Take a moment. Look around. Feel it. Because this day – your day – is something you’ll carry with you forever.
